$7B Jordan-UAE Landbridge Rail to Cut Red Sea-Arabian Gulf Transit to 18 Hours
A $7 billion railway corridor project will link Jordan and the UAE, connecting the Red Sea to the Arabian Gulf to slash regional transit times to 18 hours.
A major $7 billion railway initiative connecting Jordan and the UAE is set to establish a transformative freight link bridging the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf. Spanning 403 kilometers, the Landbridge rail corridor is projected to handle 16 million tons of cargo annually and create 5,000 new jobs. By reducing freight transit times from 5–7 days by sea to just 18 hours by rail, the project marks a significant leap in cross-border trade efficiency and regional logistics integration between the Levant and the GCC.
The project establishes an intermodal transit route that bypasses maritime chokepoints, significantly improving cargo velocity between the Levant and GCC markets. The construction phase will mobilize large-scale earthworks, subgrade preparation, and rail-laying contracts, generating substantial capital expenditure and contract pipelines for regional EPC contractors and infrastructure developers.
Civil infrastructure contractors and heavy earthmoving machinery dealerships will see substantial demand for site-preparation packages, trackbed grading, trenching, and aggregate material handling across the railway alignment. Equipment suppliers should prepare for multi-year lease, sales, and product-support opportunities covering high-capacity excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, and articulated dump trucks.
Directly connects trade corridors between Jordan and the UAE, expanding multimodal transport capacity across the wider Middle East and strengthening economic integration between the GCC and Jordan.
